Using the app

Web search

Current answers with sources, pasted links, and exact package versions.

Local models only know what they learned in training. Web search gives them current information.

Search for one message

  • Switch on Web from the + menu in the message box, or
  • start your message with /web.

The app searches, reads the most relevant pages, and answers with numbered sources you can click.

Paste a link

Paste a web address in your message and the page is read for you, for example "summarise this: https://…".

Exact package versions

/pkg name looks up the latest version straight from the registry (npm, PyPI, crates.io or GitHub releases) instead of guessing.

When the AI wants to search by itself

With Settings → Web search → Let the AI decide on, the model can ask to look something up while answering. You'll see an Allow / Deny card first.

Search engines

Built-in search works out of the box: the app searches in a hidden browser window. If you run your own SearXNG server, add its address in Settings → Web search.

Pages from the internet are fetched to your computer. The app refuses private and local network addresses, so a web page can't make it reach devices on your network.
